Johnny may technically be the hero of the comic, but these days he's too busy fending off an increasingly long streak of bad luck to worry too much about his Heroic Exploit quota. He does occasionally fight off face-gnawing raccoons, and he's nearly always on an Epic Quest for a Steady Girlfriend, so he's got that going for his protag-o-meter, at least. Johnny's hobbies include gaming and bein' awesome – or at least that's what he tells the ladies he meets when he's out questing.

Rihga has the double-advantage of being both the comic's artist and Johnny's childhood friend, which means that almost nothing surprises her these days. As the voice of reason in the N.O. House it's typically her job to look after her house mates, but intense apathy and a schadenfreude-like sense of humor prevent her from doing a very good job of it. Her hobbies including reading, drawing, and pointing out the glaring flaws in Johnny's many hare-brained schemes. That last one just never gets dull for her. |

The Raccoon of Destiny (called “Desty” for short) was summoned in The Pilot as punishment for Johnny. He enjoyed his time in the N.O. House so much that he decided to become a recurring character. Neither Johnny nor Rihga truly know the extent of his powers or his purpose in their home, though he seems to always be around when something is about to go terribly, terribly wrong. His hobbies include grinning and pouncing, preferably onto Johnny's tender and succulent face.

Canis stumbled through the Plot Hole and was adopted by Rihga, who had always wanted a pet and, quite frankly, found it unfair that Johnny got to keep Desty while she couldn't have so much as a single tank of sea monkeys. Rihga and Canis are often seen together and generally get along very well, but then again Canis seems to get along with just about everyone. His hobbies include eating, finding things to eat, and being sad when there isn't anything to eat.

Azzy, a self-proclaimed High Priest from the Hell Dimension, seems more concerned with mixing drinks than converting Americans, which is a shame seeing as how those suckers will convert to just about anything. A taciturn sort, he speaks more with his eyes than his mouth, a phenomena made even more impressive by the fact that no one has ever actually seen his eyes. His hobbies include backseat confessions and drive-by baptisms. Rihga frequently fears for her neighbors. |

Kettle was summoned to the N.O. House by Rihga as part of her master plan to add another female to the cast. As a wish-granting fairy, Kettle is pretty much always ready to help out a house mate in need, though she has a tendency to get side-tracked by things like small woodland animals and underpants printed with adorable designs. Her hobbies include redecorating the house and reorganizing the cabinets without asking. Because Kettle is a helper.
